Wegmans, a family-owned supermarket chain based in Rochester, signed a purchase agreement in December 2016 with Normandy Real Estate Partners for a 125,000-square-foot grocery in Harrison.
The company received its final planning approval in August from the Harrison Town/Village Board.
Wegmans received its demolition permit earlier this year, but the company has yet to file a building permit application. The grocery chain needs the building permit before it can start demolition.
Once a building permit is granted, Wegmans will begin testing and evaluating the site as it prepares to lay the foundation for the new building.
In February, a lawyer representing Wegmans told Harrison Trustees that the new grocery store is expected to open one year after its foundation is built. That date will depend on what the company finds when it starts examining the site, the lawyer said at the time.
